Description
This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. A polyclonal antibody specific for nucleocapsid protein has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any nucleocapsid protein present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After washing away any unbound substances, a biotin-labeled monoclonal antibody specific for nucleocapsid protein is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound antibody-biotin reagent, a streptavidin- horseradish peroxidase is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of nucleocapsid protein bound in the initial step.
